We’re back with our March Madness bracket picks for the Southwest Region. Don’t miss how we see the matchups in this bracket breaking down as we inch closer to the NCAA Tournament!
1 vs. 16: Kansas Jayhawks vs. Northern Colorado Bears OR Texas Southern Tigers - Kansas feels like it disposes of a team like this every year in the dance. The question is how Rock Chalk would stand up in March Madness bracket picks against one of the teams in this 8/9 game…
8 vs. 9: Utah State Aggies vs. Tennessee Volunteers – This would be a rough, rough draw for the Aggies, as Tennessee has a lot of experience this season against teams just like them. However, if there is some hope, it is that Oakland was able to win on the road when it went to Rocky Top, and the Aggies might be just as lucky in this one.
5 vs. 12: Arizona Wildcats vs. Missouri State Bears – The Cats really had the potential to fall a long, long way for our March Madness bracket picks after two losses in conference last week, but one thing is for sure. They’d be up against it in a big time way against the Bears, who are absolutely a legit force to be reckoned with.
4 vs. 13: Louisville Cardinals vs. Oakland Golden Grizzlies – This Oakland team is the one club that no one really wants to see in the first round of the dance. Don’t be shocked if this were the draw, if the Redbirds got sent packing.
6 vs. 11: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs – The Bulldogs really have all sorts of luck in this tournament, and they usually make for great March Madness bracket picks, but we know that this WVU team doesn’t screw around and probably wouldn’t be bounced this early.
3 vs. 14: San Diego State Aztecs vs. Vermont Catamounts – Let the debate begin as to whether the Aztecs should be a No. 2 or a No. 3… There isn’t another team in the land that can beat SDSU aside from BYU apparently, and unless Vermont plans on finding another guy named “Jimmer,” it shouldn’t last long in the dance.
7 vs. 10: Missouri Tigers vs. Marquette Golden Eagles – We tend to think that these two could meet up in an 8/9 battle as well when it’s said and done. As always, we’d have to give the nod to the Big East, especially since all 11 powerhouse teams are likely to get into the field.
2 vs. 15: Purdue Boilermakers vs. Kent State Golden Flashes – Purdue is hoping to be rewarded with a No. 1 seed this year, but a consolation of playing in Chicago against a weak bracket would be a great prize.
